WOODSIDE
COMMUNITY
FOUNDATION
was founded back in 1952 by a group of nine civic-minded residents...
"to promote and foster community welfare, to acquire and allocate funds to community interests..."

The Foundation's non-profit status as a charitable foundation allows all contributors to receive a full tax deduction for their donations, benefiting a myriad of valuable projects.

WCF's first project in 1953 was construction of the Amphitheater behind Woodside Elementary School, where 8th grade graduations have occurred annually ever since. Other activities such as band concerts, the May Pole Dance, and festivities after the May Day Parade are also held there.

Throughout the past 50 years, WCF has received donations of real estate, stocks, cash, even an oil well, reflecting the generosity of Woodsiders and the range of donated assets. This generosity has facilitated the following wide-ranging accomplishments.

How The Foundation Works.

Woodside Community Foundation is not dedicated to any one area or project, rather its purposes are...

"charitable, the development of community interest and community welfare, and the providing for enhancement of children's activities and interest in the community, including their recreational and educational development."
                                                       (By-Laws)

Any organization, group, or individual may apply to set up a project within the Woodside Community Foundation. Every effort is made to accommodate any request which falls within the broad by-laws of the Foundation.

Funds generated within each project of the Community Foundation are granted back to that project by the Board of the WCF. (Federal law provides that restricted funds that cannot be spent within the limits of their restriction must be returned.)

The Woodside Community Foundation is governed by a self-perpetuating Board of seven volunteer members, who represent a broad cross-section of the community. The Foundation is a tax-exempt charity under section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code. It was incorporated on November 10, 1952.
